Joomla Upgrade
Keeping your installation of Joomla up to date, the current version is 1.5.20 (check what version you are currently running), is important because it insures your website is not hacked through a known vulnerability in Joomla. If your Joomla installation has already been hacked we can clean it up and then upgrade it. For websites already running a version of Joomla 1.5, new releases also provide bug fixes. For website still running Joomla 1.0, migrating to 1.5 introduces a number of new features.
If you prefer not to upgrade your Joomla installation yourself, we can do it for you following the proper upgrade procedure. First we backup the website's files and database, we then install the upgrade, and finally we test the website to insure the upgrade has not caused any issues. Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 Migration
If you are currently running Joomla 1.0, the website cannot be directly upgraded to the latest version of Joomla and instead the website's data must be migrated from Joomla 1.0 to a Joomla 1.5 installation. This is due to significant changes that were made in Joomla 1.5. Templates, components, modules, and plugins designed for Joomla 1.0 are not directly compatible with Joomla 1.5.
To perform the migration we first install the Joomla 1.5 installation into a subdirectory of your website and then migrate the user, section, category, content, and menu data from Joomla 1.0 installation. We can also migrated data from Artio JoomSEF, Community Builder, Docman, FacileForms, Fireboard, JomComment, Kunena, Letterman, and Virtuemart. We will also install any Joomla 1.5 compatible templates, components, modules, and plugins that you provide. You can then test and tweak the Joomla 1.5 version, once you are satisfied with it we will replace the Joomla 1.0 installation with the new installation.
