Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Just having a website does not insure that potential clients can find you on the Internet. Many potential clients will use Google, Yahoo, Bing, or another search engine when looking for the goods or services you provide. If your website is not designed with search engines in mind, you could be missing the opportunity to reach the maximum amount of those potential clients. Your website might not show up at all in search engines or not show up for the keywords that your potential clients are searching on.

Our process begins by reviewing how your website interacts with the three stages of the search engine process: crawling, indexing, and ranking. Crawling is the process of search engines getting copies of the pages on your website. Indexing is the process of processing information about the crawled pages and adding them to an index of pages from all across the Internet. Ranking is the order that pages show up in search engine result pages (SERPs). Each step of the process has pitfalls that could cause your website to perform worse than it should. If you have not already signed up for the Google, Yahoo, and Bing webmaster tools, we will assist you in setting up accounts during this review.

We then work with your implement strategies to provide your website the best possible rankings. We strictly follow the guidelines set out by search engines and will not do anything that could cause your website to be penalized or banned. We are willing to explain and document all the changes that are made, to the level of detail that makes you comfortable with the changes. We can't offer you guaranteed number one rankings, but companies that offer that are either not telling the truth, guaranteeing rankings for keywords that searchers are not likely to use, or take actions that could get your website removed from or severely penalized by search engines. Before hiring anyone to help with you with search engine optimization we recommend you read Google's Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide (PDF), which provides a great overview of the basics of search engine optimization.

Dealing With a Website That is Currently Penalized or Banned

If your website has been penalized or banned, we can work to restore your website's ranking in the search engines. We understand that this can happen to website owners who had the best intentions but followed bad advice or got involved with a shady search engine optimizer. We understand the types of actions that can cause penalties and bans and what needs to be done to counteract them. Depending on the severity and type of actions taken the penalty or ban may be quickly reversed or could take a while to be reversed.

Development or Redevelopment of a Website

If you are in process of planning the development or redevelopment of a website, we can provide search engine optimization guidance throughout the process. Both of these situations provide a good opportunity to integrate search engine optimization best practices in a natural fashion. When redeveloping a website, it is also important to provide a smooth transition from the old website to the new website for search engines so that any negative effects of the transition are minimized.
